Step into the sparkle of Bruges Winter Glow

Enjoy a wonderfully festive day out with our cheerful coach trip to Bruges Winter Glow, a perfect seasonal adventure for families, friends and anyone who loves Christmas magic.

After a smooth and relaxing journey, with a ferry crossing by DFDS (You will receive a voucher for breakfast). You will step into a city transformed by twinkling lights, glowing displays and the irresistible charm of Bruges’ medieval streets.

Wander through the vibrant Christmas markets filled with colourful stalls, handcrafted gifts and delicious Belgian treats, from warm waffles to rich hot chocolate. Follow the enchanting Winter Glow light trail as it winds through the city, offering brilliant photo opportunities and moments of pure festive delight.

Bruges at night feels as if it has been purpose built for Christmas. Once the sun sets, the medieval streets soften into warm amber light, and the Winter Glow installations take over — glowing arches, shimmering projections and gentle washes of colour that guide you through the city like a festive trail. Reflections ripple across the canals, turning every bridge into a postcard moment.

The Market Square glitters with its towering tree and illuminated facades, while the light trail leads you through quieter corners where the glow feels intimate and atmospheric. There’s a calmness to it — the kind of winter magic that wraps around you rather than shouts for attention.

With plenty of free time to explore at your own pace—whether you’re shopping, sightseeing or simply soaking up the atmosphere—this uplifting day out captures the true spirit of winter. A bright, joyful experience that creates lasting memories and brings the magic of Christmas to life for all ages.

We will be leaving Bruges to head for home at around 8pm. You will receive a voucher for dinner on the ferry.

OUR TOP TIPS

Follow the Light Experience Trail

The trail changes each year and leads you through:

  • Hidden courtyards

  • Quiet canals

  • Iconic squares

  • Interactive light installations

It’s selfguided, free, and takes 60–90 minutes depending on how often you stop for photos.

Dress warmly — Bruges gets cold

Expect crisp winter air, especially near the canals. Bring:

  • Gloves

  • Hat

  • Scarf

  • Warm coat

Wear comfortable shoes

Bruges has cobbles everywhere. The light trail covers a fair distance, so supportive footwear is essential.

Visit the Begijnhof at dusk

The whitewashed houses and stillness of the courtyard feel almost monastic in winter. It’s one of the most atmospheric spots in Bruges and a perfect pre trail moment.

Explore the artisan shops off the main squares

Bruges is full of independent chocolatiers, lace makers and candle shops. The side streets around Steenstraat, Wollestraat and Burg offer quieter browsing and more authentic gifts.

Pause on the bridges — the reflections are stunning

The canals mirror the lights beautifully. Top bridges for photos include:

  • Meebrug
  • Bonifacius Bridge

  • Peerdenbrug

These are quieter than Rozenhoedkaai but just as magical.
