Belfasts story is deeply intertwined with one of the most famous ships ever built: the RMS Titanic. Constructed at the Harland & Wolff shipyard and launched in 1911, Titanic was celebrated as the largest and most luxurious ocean liner of her time. She represented the height of Edwardian engineering, boasting grand interiors, cutting edge design and a reputation for near invincibility. On 10 April 1912, she set sail on her maiden voyage from Southampton, but tragedy struck just days later when she collided with an iceberg in the North Atlantic. The loss of more than 1,500 lives led to sweeping changes in maritime safety and cemented Titanics place in world history.
Today, the world famous Titanic Exhibition stands on the very site where the ship was built. Nine immersive galleries, original artefacts and full scale reconstructions bring her story vividly to life, offering a powerful and moving experience.
